Rising 190 metres across 56 storeys in Tokyo's Shiodome district, the Acty Shiodome is a postmodern residential tower completed in 2004 by the Takenaka Corporation. Currently Japan's second tallest residential building, it comprises 768 units distributed across mixed-use floors: the lower levels house shops, a day care centre, and medical clinics, while 683 rental apartments occupy floors 3 through 44, and 85 luxury units branded "La Tour Shiodome" occupy the upper storeys. Owned by the Urban Development Corporation, the building sits in a densely connected transit hub, with the JR Yokosuka Line running directly beneath it and the Yurikamome New Transit line and Shuto Expressway flanking its sides.
