The Allen House is a historic two-story brick residence located in Dyersville, Iowa, built in 1857 by land speculator and developer T.F. Allen during the peak year of construction in the town. Exhibiting both Italianate and Federal stylistic elements, the house features a low-pitched hip roof with broad eaves, Federal-influenced metal lintels framing each window, a transom above the main doorway, and a nearly full-width front porch supported by heavy square wood posts. A two-story wing was added to the rear in the early twentieth century, along with a contemporary carriage house. The building's construction coincided with Dyersville's brief prosperity as the terminus of the Dubuque and Pacific Railway, though the town entered economic decline within a year following the railroad's westward expansion and the Panic of 1857. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.
