Allianz Tower, a 50-floor postmodern skyscraper completed in 2012, rises 210 meters above Milan as the tallest building in Italy. Designed by Japanese architect Arata Isozaki and Italian architect Andrea Maffei, it serves as headquarters for Allianz SpA's Italian subsidiary. The tower's distinctive form comprises eight modules of six floors each, clad in triple-glazed units that curve slightly outward. This vertical stacking of rounded forms creates an optical effect of subtle vibration as the structure ascends, while fully glazed elevations on the short sides showcase a mechanical series of six panoramic lifts. Though it sometimes ranks behind the UniCredit Tower when that building's spire is counted, Allianz Tower's own antenna extends its pinnacle height to 260 meters. In 2016, Emporis nominated it as the third-best skyscraper completed in 2015.
