Ardnamurchan Lighthouse stands on Ardnamurchan Point in Lochaber, Highland Scotland, a distinctive 36-metre tower of pink granite completed in 1849 to a design by Alan Stevenson. It remains the only lighthouse in the UK built in the Egyptian style. Originally manned, the lighthouse was electrified in 1976, automated in 1988, and is now remotely operated by the Northern Lighthouse Board from Edinburgh, though a part-time keeper remains on site. The former keepers' cottages and outbuildings, now managed by the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse Trust, house a visitor centre and museum called the "Kingdom of Light," displaying the lighthouse's operational history, including its restored engine room and original fog horn, alongside exhibits on local geology, natural history, and culture. The structure is designated a category A listed building.
