The Basilica Palladiana, a Renaissance palace in Vicenza's central Piazza dei Signori, stands as a landmark of Andrea Palladio's groundbreaking architectural vision. Built beginning in 1549 and constructed of marble, brick, and stone, the edifice is distinguished by its loggia, which features one of the earliest examples of the Palladian window—a tripartite opening that would come to define Palladio's influence on Renaissance architecture and beyond. Now serving as a museum, the building has been designated Italian national heritage and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site encompassing Vicenza and the Palladian villas of the Veneto region, recognized since 1994.
