Designed by Andrea Palladio in 1565 and constructed in 1571–72, the Palazzo del Capitaniato stands on Vicenza's central Piazza dei Signori, facing the Basilica Palladiana. This Renaissance palace, also known as the Loggia del Capitanio or Loggia Bernarda, features decorative work by Lorenzo Rubini and interior frescoes by Giovanni Antonio Fasolo. Now home to the town council within the Sala Bernarda, it has been part of UNESCO's World Heritage Site designation for the "City of Vicenza and the Palladian Villas of the Veneto" since 1994.
