Bauska Castle stands on the outskirts of the Latvian city of Bauska. Originally a hill fort, it was built as a Livonian order castle by the Livonian branch of the Teutonic Knights in the fifteenth century, with a palace added in the sixteenth century. It combines the ruins of the earlier castle with the later palace, and partial restoration began in 2008. It is an archaeological monument of state importance in Latvia.
