Built in 1914 in DeRidder, Louisiana, the Beauregard Parish Jail is a striking example of Collegiate Gothic architecture, locally known as the Gothic Jail or Hanging Jail. The structure, which is now defunct, reflects the ornamental sensibilities of early-twentieth-century civic design. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981, the jail remains under the stewardship of the Beauregard Parish Police Jury, with preservation efforts coordinated through the Beauregard Parish Rehabilitation Committee and supported by the local tourist commission.
