Blighty Valley Cemetery, located near Albert in the Somme region of northern France, was established in 1916 as a Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery designed by Herbert Baker. Situated approximately 4 kilometres north-east of Albert, it contains 1,027 burials and commemorations of Commonwealth soldiers who fell during the Battle of the Somme. The vast majority of those interred died on 1 July 1916, the catastrophic opening day of the Battle of Albert, making the cemetery a solemn record of that devastating offensive.
