Located on the Heysel Plateau in northern Brussels, the Brussels Planetarium is Belgium's primary planetarium and part of the Royal Observatory of Belgium. The current brutalist structure was constructed in the 1970s, replacing an earlier planetarium that had operated since the 1935 Brussels International Exposition before closing in 1966. Integrated into the Royal Observatory in 1979, the institution now operates under the Belgian Federal Science Policy Office and sits near major landmarks including the Atomium and Bruparck entertainment complex, accessible via metro line 6.
