The Prinkipo Greek Orphanage, located on Büyükada in the Princes' Islands off Istanbul, is a monumental wooden structure designed by architect Alexandre Vallaury and completed in 1903. Spanning 20,000 square meters, it stands as Europe's largest wooden building and the world's second largest. Built in Ottoman architectural style, the orphanage served its original purpose from 1903 until 1964, after which it became a historic site. The building's massive timber construction represents a remarkable engineering achievement and stands as a testament to early twentieth-century institutional architecture in the Ottoman period.
