Located outside Utrecht in the Netherlands, Castle de Haar is the largest castle in the country and a striking example of Gothic Revival architecture. Designed by the prominent architect Pierre Cuypers and constructed beginning in 1892, the castle represents a monumental architectural undertaking of the late nineteenth century. Today it functions as both a museum and a protected heritage complex, designated a Rijksmonument, preserving a substantial ensemble of castle structures and grounds for public study and enjoyment.
