Perched on the left bank of the Meuse between Waulsort and Dinant in Belgium's Namur province, the Castle of Freÿr is a Mosan Renaissance château enlarged during the eighteenth century that once hosted dukes and royalty. Its grounds, designed in the style of Le Nôtre, have earned the estate comparison to Versailles on a reduced scale and designation as one of Wallonia's most magnificent natural sites and major heritage properties. The castle features gardens with orange trees, including the oldest orangeries in the Low Countries—structures more than three hundred years old that testify to the estate's historical grandeur and horticultural significance.
