The Castle of Viana do Alentejo, situated in the parish of Viana do Alentejo in central Alentejo, Portugal, is a gothic fortification built in 1313 during the Portuguese Reconquest and settlement of the region. Though modest in design compared to contemporaries such as the Castle of Portel or Castle of Feira, it served a strategic military purpose during the turbulent period of Portuguese expansion southward into the Algarve. The castle carries the designation of National Monument of Portugal and reflects the Manueline architectural traditions of medieval Portuguese military construction.
