The Cathedral Basilica of St. Nicholas of Bari in Nicosia, Sicily, is a Norman-style cathedral erected in the early 1300s under Frederick II of Aragon and became functional by 1340, though construction was not finished. Dedicated to Saint Nicholas of Bari, the cathedral serves as the seat of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nicosia and is designated an Italian national heritage site. Among its most distinctive features is a precious wooden roof dating to 1300, a rare and well-preserved example of medieval carpentry.
