Centre Point is a 117-metre brutalist skyscraper in London's West End, designed by Richard Seifert and George Marsh and completed in 1966. Comprising a 34-storey tower alongside a nine-storey adjoining block connected at first-floor level, it occupies a prominent site at the intersection of New Oxford Street, St Giles High Street, and Charing Cross Road, directly above Tottenham Court Road tube station. The tower sits on ground once marked by a gallows, and its construction required the rerouting of St Giles High Street itself. One of London's earliest skyscrapers, the building famously remained empty from its completion until 1975, becoming a symbol of speculative development; it was briefly occupied by housing activists in 1974. Now Grade II listed, it underwent conversion from office to residential use in 2015.
