The Château de Clagny was a French country house designed by Jules Hardouin-Mansart for Madame de Montespan, situated northeast of the Palace of Versailles. Built between 1674 and 1680, it ranked among the architect's most significant private commissions, yet the structure was demolished in 1769 after prolonged deterioration. Today, its appearance survives only through period engravings and archival records of the royal building administration, leaving posterity with fragmentary visual and documentary traces of what was once an important work of Baroque domestic architecture.
