The Château du Lude stands in the commune of Le Lude in the Sarthe department of France, at the crossroads of Anjou, Maine and Touraine. It is the most northerly château of the Loire Valley, originally a stronghold later transformed into an elegant Renaissance and 18th-century house. The same family has lived there for the last 260 years, and its gardens blend French design with an English-style landscape, including a rose garden, topiaries, a labyrinth and a botanical walk.
