Located at 39 Pylimo Street in Vilnius's Old Town, the Choral Synagogue was designed by Daniel Rosenhaus and Aleksejus Polozovas and completed in 1903. The building blends Romanesque Revival and Moorish Revival styles in an eclectic composition. It serves as the congregation house for Taharat Ha-Kodesh, an Orthodox Jewish community. The Choral Synagogue holds singular historical significance as the only synagogue in Vilnius that remains in active use—a distinction born of catastrophe, as all other synagogues in the city were destroyed or desecrated during Nazi occupation in World War II and subsequent Soviet rule.
