The Church of Saint Lazarus is a late-9th-century Byzantine church in Larnaca, Cyprus, belonging to the Church of Cyprus. Built over the site traditionally believed to be the second tomb of Lazarus of Bethany—the New Testament figure whom Jesus raised from the dead—the church commemorates Eastern Orthodox tradition holding that Lazarus fled to Cyprus after the Resurrection and was appointed the first Bishop of Kition (modern Larnaca) by Paul the Apostle and Barnabas. According to legend, Lazarus lived thirty additional years on the island before his death and burial there.
