The Church of St Nicholas in Combe St Nicholas, Somerset, traces its origins to the Norman period, with the chancel and lower stage of the tower dating from the 13th century. A church has occupied the site since the Norman Conquest and possibly earlier; the structure was dedicated in 1170 by the Bishop of Waterford and Bishop Jocelin of Wells. The Hamstone nave comprises five bays and retains a font that may predate the Norman era. Aisles were added in the 15th century, housing a piscina and another font, while a carved rood screen from around 1470 survives within. The tower, fitted with a clock from 1845, features six bells, battlements, corner pinnacles, and gargoyles. Three vaults beneath the chancel were discovered in 1971. The church underwent restoration in 1836 and holds Grade I listed status.
