St Nicolas Church in Old Shoreham, now part of the town of Shoreham-by-Sea in West Sussex, is an Anglican parish church founded by Anglo-Saxons at the start of the 10th century on a riverside site, possibly overlaying a 5th-century predecessor. Though substantially enlarged with Norman additions in the 12th century when Shoreham prospered, and further extended in the 14th century, the church retains some original Saxon-era structural elements. Its cruciform plan culminates in a solid central tower distinguished by unusual Norman-era carving. A Victorian restoration followed these medieval developments. English Heritage's Grade I listing recognizes its combined architectural and historical significance.
