The Church of St Nicholas is a small medieval Eastern Orthodox church in Sapareva Banya, a town in southwestern Bulgaria's Kyustendil Province. Built sometime between the 11th and 14th centuries (with a traditional date of 1300), it exemplifies simple Byzantine architecture in its cross-in-square plan with a single nave and apse. Constructed of red bricks laid with white mortar, the church originally served either as a private chapel for a local notable or as part of a larger ecclesiastical complex. Its interior frescoes survive only sparsely. After deteriorating into ruin, the church was reconstructed in 1937 and designated a monument of national cultural importance in 1968.
