The Church of the Acheiropoietos is a fifth-century Byzantine church in central Thessaloniki, Greece, standing on Agias Sofias street opposite Makedonomachon square. Built in 401 CE, it exemplifies outstanding early Byzantine architecture and reflects the city's rich paleochristian heritage. The structure later served as a mosque during the Ottoman period, layering both Byzantine and Ottoman architectural traditions within its walls. In 1988, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List alongside other paleochristian and Byzantine monuments of Thessaloniki, recognizing its historical and architectural significance.
