Dar Mustapha Pacha is a Moorish palace situated in the Casbah of Algiers and built between 1798 and 1799 by the future Dey Mustapha Pacha. Now housing the National Museum of Miniatures, Illumination and Calligraphy, the palace exemplifies traditional Algerian domestic architecture of its era. The main entrance, located at No. 12 Ahmad and Muhammad Mecheri Street, opens beneath a projecting roof terrace bordered by Roman tiles into a sqifa, or entrance hall, leading to the central courtyard. This courtyard features groined vaults, decorative niches forming window-seat benches, and a secondary entrance framed by marble doors. The residential quarters surround the courtyard with galleries supported by marble columns and ornamented with decorative tiles, while wooden beams support the ceilings of both ground and first floors. The palace is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site designation of the Casbah.
