Detroit Waldorf School
Detroit, United States
Exterior only
Visible from the street; the inside is private.
Located in Detroit's historic Indian Village neighborhood, the Detroit Waldorf School occupies a Tudor Revival building designed by architect Albert Kahn and completed in 1965. This private PreK-8 institution, which received designation as a Michigan State Historic Site in 2016, remains the only independent private school in Detroit and ranks among the city's highest-performing schools. The building reflects Kahn's characteristic approach to institutional architecture, adapted here to the refined residential character of its neighborhood setting.
