Dode was an English village in Snodland that fell victim to the Black Death in 1349, its population entirely decimated by the plague. All that survives of the settlement is its Norman church, which stood abandoned for centuries before undergoing reconstruction in the 1990s. The deconsecrated structure now serves as a poignant physical trace of a community erased during the medieval pandemic.
