Eaton Hall is a sprawling Norman-style mansion in King City, Ontario, completed in 1938–39 for Lady Eaton on a 700-acre estate that had been assembled by her and her husband, Sir John Craig Eaton, beginning in 1920. Built three years after Lady Eaton sold her Toronto townhouse, Ardwold, the house contains 72 rooms and overlooks Lake Jonda, named for her son John David Eaton. Situated within temperate forests in King Township near the Mary Lake property of their friend Sir Henry Pellatt, who had recommended the location, Eaton Hall became a principal gathering place for the Eaton family, whose department store empire dominated Toronto commerce.
