Eros House is a Brutalist structure in Catford, south London, designed by Rodney Gordon and Owen Luder and completed between 1960 and 1963. Originally conceived as an office building, it was later converted into residential flats. The building exemplifies the architects' characteristic Brutalist vocabulary, featuring a distinctive freestanding stair tower. Built as part of a larger urban renewal scheme that replaced the old Eros Theater and incorporated a shopping centre, the structure earned praise from critic Ian Nairn for its powerful presence and unexpected gentleness. However, extensive exterior cladding with insulation panels applied around 2000 substantially transformed its appearance, leading Luder to disown the building before his death.
