Fernsehturm Stuttgart, a 216.61-meter telecommunications tower in the Degerloch district of Stuttgart, Germany, was designed by Fritz Leonhardt and completed in 1956. Built from reinforced concrete, it was the world's first tower of its kind constructed in this material, establishing a prototype for the modernist "needle tower with basket" design that would be replicated internationally in subsequent decades. Though initially controversial, the tower rapidly became an iconic Stuttgart landmark and major tourist destination. It is designated a cultural heritage monument of special significance in Baden-Württemberg and appears on UNESCO's tentative World Heritage list.
