The Flins Renault Factory, designed by architect Bernard Zehrfuss and opened in 1952, straddles the towns of Flins and Aubergenville in Yvelines, approximately 40 kilometres from Paris. Covering 237 hectares—67 of which are enclosed manufacturing buildings—it is the largest and, since the closure of the Boulogne-Billancourt plant, the oldest Renault factory in mainland France. The facility is internally named the Pierre Lefaucheux Factory, commemorating Renault's first post-war CEO, who died in a car accident driving a Renault Frégate produced at the plant. Between its opening and summer 2009, Flins assembled over 16.8 million vehicles.
