Flint-Goodridge Hospital was a pioneering medical institution in New Orleans, Louisiana, serving predominantly African-American patients for nearly a century beginning in 1896, making it the first black hospital in the South. Owned and operated by Dillard University, a historically black university, for most of its existence, the hospital relocated to Louisiana Avenue in uptown New Orleans in 1932, where it remained until its closure in 1983. The Louisiana Avenue facility, designed by architect Moise H. Goldstein Sr. in the Moderne architectural style, is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, preserving the legacy of this significant institution in African-American medical history.
