Designed by Louis Kahn and completed in 1981, the Flora Lamson Hewlett Library serves as the central library of the Graduate Theological Union, perched on Berkeley's "Holy Hill." One of the largest theological collections in the United States, holding over 500,000 volumes as of 2014, the library's holdings are accessible to the public as well as to students and faculty of GTU seminaries, UC Berkeley, Stanford University, and institutions participating in the Reciprocal Borrowing program of the American Theological Library Association. The library also operates a branch at San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo and maintains additional storage facilities at the American Baptist Seminary of the West and Santa Clara University.
