Located at 122 W. Main Street in Dwight, Illinois, the Frank L. Smith Bank is a 1905 bank building designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright's initial designs for the structure date to 1904, and it opened to the public in 1906. The building deliberately eschews the classical architectural vocabulary prevalent in early-twentieth-century bank design, instead pursuing a more austere aesthetic intended to convey simple dignity. Now operating as the Dwight Banking Center of Peoples National Bank of Kewanee, it stands as an early example of Wright's commercial work.
