Glienicke Palace stands on the peninsula of Berlin-Wannsee in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district, a Neoclassical masterwork designed by Karl Friedrich Schinkel around 1825 for Prince Carl of Prussia. Though construction began in 1750, the palace acquired its refined neoclassical character under Schinkel's hand. The palace and its surrounding park have been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1990 as part of the "Palaces and Parks of Potsdam and Berlin," recognized for their distinctive contribution to Prussian landscape architecture and their status as cultural heritage monuments in Berlin.
