Located at Fifth Avenue and West 36th Street in Midtown Manhattan, the Gorham Building (390 Fifth Avenue) is an Italian Renaissance Revival palazzo designed by McKim, Mead & White with Stanford White as the lead partner. Completed in 1906, this Manhattan landmark features rich materials including granite, limestone, bronze ornamentation, and a distinctive copper cornice accented with gold leaf. Originally built for the Gorham Manufacturing Company, a major sterling and silverplate manufacturer, the building housed the company's operations from 1905 to 1923 before serving successively as Russeks department store and later Spear Securities. Despite significant alterations to its lower floors over time, the building was designated a New York City landmark in 1998.
