The Governor Hotel is a former hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, designed by architect Henry Hohauser and completed in 1939. Built during the height of Miami Beach's architectural renaissance, the building exemplifies the Streamline Moderne style, a sleek, flowing variant of Art Deco that emphasized horizontal lines and curved forms. Hohauser, a prolific designer of Miami Beach's resort hotels, applied the hallmarks of the period—elegant streamlining, geometric ornamentation, and contemporary materials—to create a structure that captured the optimism and modernity of the prewar era. Though no longer operating as a hotel, the Governor remains a testament to the development of Miami Beach as a destination for leisure and architectural innovation.
