The Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka, designed by Japanese architect Kenzō Tange and completed in 1955 in Chiyoda, Tokyo, was an upscale hotel distinguished by its "distinctive saw-toothed facade" of aluminium and glass. The modernist skyscraper stood for nearly six decades until its demolition in 2012, which became notable for employing a top-down deconstruction method that made the building appear to gradually shrink in height. The site is now occupied by Tokyo Garden Terrace Kioicho, a mixed-use development.
