The Great Mosque of Testour, built in 1631 in the center of the old city of Testour in Tunisia's Beja Governorate, embodies Andalusian architectural traditions brought by its patron, Muhammad Tigharinu, an Andalusian immigrant who settled there in 1609. The mosque's most distinctive feature is its 23-meter-tall octagonal minaret, which resembles Aragonese bell towers of northern Spain and displays Andalusian-style inscriptions and architectural elements, including small double windows adorned with glazed inscriptions and a mechanical clock. The prayer hall, complemented by a central courtyard (sahn), accommodates up to 1,000 worshipers and features a mihrab decorated with colored porcelain and tiles. The building's construction employed limestone, Spanish sand, and marble, materials that reflect its hybrid cultural origins.
