The Mansouri Great Mosque in Tripoli, Lebanon, was built between 1294 and 1298 during the Mamluk period, making it the first structure erected in Mamluk Tripoli. Constructed on the ruins of a Crusader church, the mosque preserves architectural elements from its predecessor: the minaret tower likely originated from the Church of St. Mary, possibly retaining Lombard details, while the main entrance appears to incorporate a former Crusader gate. The remaining structure represents Muslim architecture of the post-Mamluk conquest era. One of the most significant historical landmarks of medieval Tripoli, the mosque exemplifies the layered architectural history of the Levantine coast, where Islamic and Christian building traditions interweave.
