The Hanishina Kofun Group is an archaeological site in Chikuma and Nagano, Nagano Prefecture, comprising four large keyhole-shaped burial mounds—the Mori-Shōgunzuka, Ariakeyama-Shōgunzuka, Kurashina-Shōgunzuka, and Doguchi-Shōgunzuka kofun—along with numerous smaller tumuli scattered across the landscape. Dating from the late fourth to early sixth centuries, the site reveals that this region was a center of power for the pre-Yamato Shinano kingdom. Designated a National Historic Site of Japan in 1971, the complex is accompanied by the Shinano no Sato Historic Park, an archaeological facility at the base of Mori Shōgunzuka featuring reconstructed pit dwellings and raised-floor structures that illustrate domestic life during the Kofun period. The site lies approximately 25 minutes' walk from Yashiro Station on the Shinano Railway.
