Built in 1891 in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, this clapboard town hall exemplifies the Boom Town architectural style, featuring a prominent facade with a tall bracketed cornice fronting a smaller gable-roofed structure. The building originally served a dual purpose, housing both the town clerk's office and the Hazel Green Opera House, a civic auditorium that hosted town meetings, graduations, religious services, and entertainers. Notably resourceful, the auditorium could accommodate a temporary jail cage on its stage when needed. The opera house closed in the 1920s, and the building is now private property, though it was recognized for its historical significance when added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
