The Henness Ridge Fire Lookout in Yosemite National Park, Mariposa County, is a three-story structure built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps as part of a Depression-era public works program. Designed in the National Park Service Rustic style—one of only two examples of this architectural approach within the park—the tower features a ground-level garage, a mid-level office and bunk area with 360-degree views across Yosemite and the Sierra National Forest, and an upper observation platform with an overhanging roof and perimeter walkway. The second fire lookout constructed in Yosemite, following the prototype at Crane Flat, it exemplifies the Park Service's philosophy of designing structures to harmonize with their natural surroundings, contrasting sharply with the metal towers favored by the U.S. Forest Service. The lookout remained in use through at least the 1980s and holds historic structure designation number 5300.
