The Herter Farmstead in Walton, Nebraska, is a Queen Anne–style estate anchored by a two-story house originally built in 1876 for Swiss immigrant Abraham Herter. In 1892, his son Jacob W. Herter redesigned the dwelling, adding a tower and classical columns that gave the farmstead its distinctive architectural character. The property, which includes several historic outbuildings, remained in family hands through three generations—passing to Edward in 1960 and then to his daughter Norma and her husband Wayne Hagaman in 1973. The farmstead was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 24, 2000.
