Originally conceived as a military hotel before converting to public luxury use, the building contains 278 guest rooms and has been recognized as a Czech cultural monument since 2000. The hotel has retained much of its original interior artwork and has operated under several names including Hotel Družba, Hotel Čedok, and periods as a Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza property.
