Housing estate
Yekaterinburg, Russia

This constructivist housing estate in Yekaterinburg, built in 1930 from wood, exemplifies the Soviet Union's early modernist approach to residential design. Constructed during the height of constructivist architectural experimentation, the complex reflects the era's utopian ideals for collective living and rational urban planning. The building's wooden construction, while less common than the concrete and brick favored in later Soviet developments, demonstrates regional material choices and craftsmanship of the period. Currently designated as a candidate heritage site in Russia, the estate represents an important surviving example of 1930s constructivist housing in the Urals region.
