Located in Kashan, Isfahan province, this Shi'ite mausoleum and imamzadeh complex serves as the resting place of Abbas the Great, the fifth shah of Safavid Iran. Built in the tradition of Ilkhanid, Seljuk, and Safavid architectural styles, the structure displays the decorative vocabulary of Persian funerary architecture through its use of tilework, brick, and mortar. The complex was recognized as part of Iran's national heritage in 1935 and remains under the stewardship of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran.
