The J. Hawkins Hart House, located at 630 Center Street in Henderson, Kentucky, is a Queen Anne-style residence built in 1892 for J. Hawkins Hart, a local court clerk who would later serve as county judge, city commissioner, and businessman. The house is believed to have been designed by George Franklin Barber, the prominent mail-order architect whose pattern-book designs helped disseminate Queen Anne style across the United States in the late nineteenth century. The dwelling exemplifies Barber's characteristic approach, exhibiting numerous hallmarks of his work and standing as an excellent example of Queen Anne architecture in Henderson. Since leaving the Hart family, the house has been home to successive middle- and upper-class residents, including prominent doctors and businessmen, while remaining a single-family dwelling throughout its history. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011 and recognized as a contributing property in the Alves Historic District, the house's scale, ornamentation, and location provide important insight into post–Civil War socioeconomic development in Henderson.
