The J.W. Knapp Company Building is a five-story, 190,000-square-foot Streamline Moderne structure in Lansing, Michigan, designed by the Bowd–Munson Company and completed in 1939 as a flagship department store for the local J.W. Knapp Company chain. The building's sleek modernist aesthetic reflected the optimism of the late 1930s, though the retail operation itself remained in business only until 1980. Following its listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, the interior was adapted for offices of the State of Michigan, which occupied the building until 2003. A comprehensive renovation beginning in 2012 transformed it into a mixed-use development combining office space, ground-floor retail, and residential apartments, securing its continued presence in downtown Lansing's urban fabric.
