Located at 711 William Street in Houston, the James Bute Company Warehouse exemplifies the Chicago School architectural style. Built in 1909 to serve the Bute Paint Company—established by James Bute in 1867—the warehouse operated for over eight decades until the company's closure in 1990. After standing abandoned, the building was converted to loft apartments in 1993 and was recognized for its historical significance when listed on the National Register of Historic Places on July 7, 1994.
